Ola Ghanem, “Homosexuality is spreading in Egyptian schools and universities
The Egyptian actress Ola Ghanem said that the trend of homosexuality in Egyptian schools and universities is spreading. She said that such a trend needs to be addressed in the cinema. She believes that art has the responsibility to examine such behavior and to discuss the reasons and facts as to why social trends occur.
Ola played the role of a lesbian in her newest film “Bedoon Raqabah” (Uncensored) which is still being screened in movie theaters. Ola explains that same sex relations are spreading in Egypt in all different social classes. She said that some girls are practicing such behavior at even the elementary school level.
As for the reason behind same sex relationship among females, Ola said that girls find it safer than having a relationship with a boy, because they are not subject to losing their virginity. She also said that girls can be together anywhere without raising suspicions.
Ola said that her film “Uncensored” conveys that the reason behind having same sex relations between females, suggesting that parents must pay more attention.
Ola said the film purposely omits scenes of an intimate nature, only trying to convey the idea of same sex relationships.
As for getting ready for her character in the film, Ola said that she did her own research and met with gay women to interview them.
