Suzanne Westenhoefer and Jennifer Houston were married on September 6th, 2008 at the Hollywood Chapel in Los Angeles. Their publicist Leyla Farah says, "The ceremony was short and sweet and attended by just a handful of their closest friends. Both brides wore white 'cause it's funny' said Westenhoefer. A reception followed for a larger crowd of well-wishers at Bar Lubitsch, a Russian vodka bar next door to the chapel, where guests were treated to champagne, delicious hors d'oeuvres and, of course, cake - complete with two miniature brides on the top!"

"We had a ceremony for our families back in November 2006," said Westenhoefer, "But they make gay people get married again and again and again. I guess we have to prove we really mean it."

"We wanted to make sure we could get married before November," Suzanne said. In November 2008 California will vote on Proposition 8. If passed, it changes the California Constitution to eliminate rights of same-sex couples to marry. Only a marriage between a man and a woman will be valid or recognized in California.
